My Feature Film Debut “OPEN” at the Berlin Film Festival
“Open” a film by Jake Yuzna has its debut Febuary 13th at the Berlin Film Festival
The official synopsis reads:
“A queer road-movie-cum-transsexual romance. In his feature film debut, director Jake Yuzna spectacularly combines all kinds of gender crossing permutations.
One of the film’s protagonists is the young hermaphrodite Cynthia. It’s not until Cynthia meets Gen and Jay, a couple that has recently undergone plastic surgery enhancements, that she first hears the term pandrogony. The word is like a promise and speaks of the possibility of two people being able to merge their facial expressions in order to conquer their isolated identities and become a single entity. Cynthia is enchanted by the idea! She promptly leaves her husband and sets off with Jay and Gen on a road trip that takes her through what’s left of the American dream of the twentieth century.
At the same time, Syd, a transsexual, meets a young punk named Nick. Not only do they fall in love with each other, but Syd also falls pregnant!
OPEN is a film about hormone treatments and surgery; a film that also unveils a new kind of human being. Pioneers in the world of transcending human experience, authentic hermaphrodites and transsexuals all join forces to present on screen the possibilities that are emerging for humankind at the outset of a century that has barely begun..”
It was one of only 3 American Films selected to be shown at this prestigious independent film event and I was privlaged to play the role of “Gen” Aka Genesis a character based upon the real life gender activist (and psychedelic rocker) Genesis P Orrdige, I even managed to end up with a small blurb on IMDB, guess I need to build a resume that doesn’t include being naked… the first screening on the 13th is already “SOLD OUT” according to the film festival website but there may be seats still available at the door.
Its also my first venture into mainstream acting, honestly Im nervous… being loud and outrageous on a rock n roll stage is second nature to me,
working in adult film is a erotic adventure and just an extension of myself, the work Ive done in experimental art films is… well they are art films so its just weird but its supposed to be so there is not a whole lot to worry about there either. But Open is a drama a very serious drama about exploring love, lust, sexual identity and the idea of Pandrogeny and what it means to become one with your partner and the lost feeling that can come when that bond is severed unexpectedly, and Im in a lead role, and I havent seen any of the final cut yet… I find myself crossing my fingers and silently praying that I dont completely suck. Im almost glad I wasnt able to attend the event just in case I do suck that way I dont have to worry about trying to find a way to slip out the fire exit without tripping the alarm if my performance is so bad that people start looking for selections of fruits and vegetables to pummel me with.
Ok Im being a bit silly with that opening statement, the director loved me and since nobody yanked me off the set on day two Im sure I did a pretty decent job but Im still nervous about how it will be received in Berlin. Its a much more soft spoken role than I would have ever thought of for myself, but I found the concept so interesting I decided to give it a shot… little did I know that my first scene would be wrapped in surgical bandages, bruised and sad… so much for the glamorous movie star thoughts drifting through my head. Filming and editing would last over two years (mostly editing) although my scenes were finished in a manic paced three weeks with a few more scenes scattered over the remaining months and a call back to re-shoot several scenes that were ruined by a cracked camera lens that didnt show up until the actual film was developed, we managed to get those shot just months ahead of my shift away from the flame red hair I had for years to its current chaotic chromatic blonde, Im sure Jake would have sent me promptly off to the stylist before I started an editors nightmare trying to fix things in after effects in post production LOL… it was bad enough that between doing the original scenes and the reshoots that I had gotten my implants and went from a rather modest B to a DD which is ironically actually talked about in one of the scenes I shot nearly a year before I had the money to even start planning on my actual surgery.
I dont know if anyone from here is planning on being at the festival but in the event that perhaps a there might be a few, the following is part of the Un-official press release along with a few words from the Real “Genesis” to let you know the times and locations and a few choice words about the concept of PANDROGENY which is part of the core concepts expressed by the film.

This year’s Panorama will present 18 feature films in its main programme, 16 will screen in Panorama Special and 20, in its Panorama Dokumenteseries. Of these films from 29 countries, 31 are world premieres, and 17 are directorial debuts.
Genesis Breyer P-Orridge was interviewed at length about her PANDROGENY project with her Other Half Lady Jaye by Jake Yuzna last y-era. The interview was integral to the research for this movie which has PANDROGENY and related means of perception as its central themes. If you can’t see it in Berlin, keep a look out for it. Change and R-Evolution are not easily catalyzed, but although PANDROGENY might seem the most difficult and less populist of all the Breyer P-Orridge and One True TOPI Tribe’s projects in Cultural Engineering, it is in fact having an impact in all sorts of locations and media. Last Y-era Breyer P-Orridge gave Lectures at Rutgers University, New York University (twice) and previously at the School of Visual Arts, NY and New School, NY on Pandrogeny. All were packed. At Rutgers we were told we broke the attendance record for a lecture in the Universirty Astory there! So do not assume this is too esoteric to be understood or relevant. In fact PANDROGENY is the natural endgame and conclusion of T.O.P.Y. and in fact everything we have done, activated and thought since we began way back in 1965 making poetry as litter to beautify the streets on Solihull, Warwickshire, England. Everything possible to imagine is possible to manifest in what appears to be material, social reality (though we nicknamed that “nonesensus reality”). Find the film. Find your SELF. What the hell? When did being a DJ become being a Musician?
He’s called a few times today, sent me emails and bugged the crap out of me with invites just about any way I can think of so I finally called him back to see what the big deal is.
Personally I like to think its just because he has a thing for Tranny cock but its not like he stands a chance in hell no matter what his line is or what club he owns. Most “Night Club Owners” come from a rare minority breed of men that repulse me by their very nature that the only way Id want to have any close up one and one encounter with them starts off with a Vice Grip, Enema Bag and a Staple Gun and only gets worse from there, use your imagination…
He’s basically doing the round up of some local celebrities and trying to get them to come to his club as VIP’s with “personal invites from the Owner” for this event and wanted to extend the offer for me to come down to his “hottest new club” for an evening on him.
Yeah right, this guy changes night clubs and goes through them about as fast as most people do a cheap set of tires for their car and probably more often than he changes the sheets on his bed. Packing up any of the crap from the last club that he had that still looks half way decent and mixing it in with a bunch of new shiny crap at a new location so you cant tell its not all new and under a new name just so it can be the “hottest new club in town” for the next year or two till it grinds itself to dust with over priced drinks, rude staff and cookie cutter club music, then its on to the next location and new name.
Personally I dont know how my name got either mixed up with with what the hell a “Local Celebrety” is or possibly he mixed me up with someone who would actually attend a trendy nightclub where the vacuous and self centered go to mingle with the affluent and pretentious… ahhh but I digress, let me cease that line of talk before someone here thinks that Im talking about someone else.
The whole point is this event is for a DJ the guy is flying in from Germany. WTF? I couldn’t believe what I just heard the guy tell me… a DJ are you kidding me… No really… this guy is going on like he must have snorted up a small dust storm worth of coke and and is all hyped up that he’s got a DJ from germany to play at his new club and will have press on hand and photographers… free this that or something else that I really could give two shits about up in the VIP lounge and he wants to know how many passes he should put under my name because its someplace I should really be and Im going to be amazed by this German DJ guy. I repeat myself… WTF?
This isnt Hendrix with a guitar or the Beatles, this is a guy playing other peoples music and somehow this equates to being a musician today… Now at this point I almost wish it was just a sleazy night club owner who’s trying to get laid and suck a little tranny cock on the down low, Im at least used to that but this guy wanted me for something far worse… he was going to try to make me watch a DJ and use me to build his little “who’s who” crowd scene for the little German boy and his cd player.
I promptly told him to put me down for 5 passes at the door for myself and a few friends and would it be any problem if we all came a little early because Id like a chance to meet the DJ and see his setup and couldnt wait to see the show!!!
Oops that was a mistake, I didnt quite say that, I cant remember what my exact reply was but I think it was something along the lines that I would rather stay at home and practice stabbing myself in the eye with a number 2 lead pencil that night… Id Miss seeing the DJ but I have that covered my MP3 player has a shuffle button and Ill set the display language to German… Ill park 10 blocks away from home, turn down the lights so I can barely see who Im talking to and just for good measure spill a couple drinks on myself and fondle my tits a few times, it will be just like being at the club… WOOT!
What the hell?
Im getting too old and just dont get it I guess Im happy to join the dinosaurs rather than confuse a DJ with someone who actually performs and makes music. I wonder what all the DJ’s are going to do when there are no new songs to spin because all the kids gave up dreams of being rock stars because they think that today being a DJ is where its at…

Judges will choose their top 3 in each category ranking them from 1-3, with their favourite getting 3 points, 2nd, 2 points and 3rd 1 point. The nominee in each category with the highest tally will be the winner.

Welcome to the 2009 Tranny Awards. With the success of last years awards we’re looking to continue this annual event and although the majority of the award process will take place online, we’re looking for a venue to do a small “Award Giving Celebration/Party” in early 2010.
Timeline
5th December 2009 – Deadline for pre-nominations from industry and members of public.
12th December 2009 – Nominations to be announced in each category and judges to begin their determination.
08th January 2009 – Winners to be announced.
Judges
A panel of 7 invited judges from industry and fans will vote for their favorite in each category.
The judges will not be announced until the awards are given and the judges will not know who the other judges are, until that time. Some judges may be disqualified from certain categories if they are nominted in that category.
The voting record of each judge will not be announced, only the winner in each category.
To be eligible for a nomination, the model must have worked for a site or DVD during the 2008 calender year, the DVD must have been released during the same time span or the website had to be operation for at least 4 months of the year.
